Vic Pentz's 70th Birthday Donate Life Fundraiser
Thank you for contributing to my 70th birthday Donate Life fundraiser.
Brandon lived every day of his 28 years to the fullest. He did everything 110%, and could often be heard saying: "Go big or go home!" In August 2010, Brandon suffered a traumatic brain injury after an accidental fall. Tragically, after a week of heroic efforts by his doctors, Brandon’s injury was determined to be irreversible. When it became necessary to remove Brandon from life support, Brandon's parents began considering organ donation. They soon learned that Brandon had already registered to be a donor. This came as no surprise – Brandon was always giving of himself.
Three people are alive today who otherwise may not have been were it not for Brandon’s gift of his kidneys and liver. His skin was used to help burn victims. His heart valves were used in replacement surgeries for patients with failing valves. And, finally, his corneas provided the gift of sight to someone. In Brandon style, he "went big" before he "went home." We have continued Brandon's legacy of big giving by participating in the annual Donate Life Run/Walk in Southern California, raising more donations than any other donor team last year. Brandon's parents also have spoken on behalf of Donate Life to inspire others by Brandon’s story and raise awareness about organ and tissue donation. Brandon's spirit of giving lives on through his organ donation, and in those of us who were and continue to be touched by his life. Thank you so much for your donation to this important cause.
